Tom May

The Tom May path to Middletown Football:

Tom May is a Frederick Native.  He started his education at Middletown Elementary before moving and graduating from Thomas Johnson High School.  There he was a member of the High School band and the football team.  Tom graduated from TJ and went onto Frostburg State earning a BA degree and then on to George Washington for his Masters.  Tom is a career teacher and is currently teaching at Valley Elementary in Jefferson Maryland.  Tom has 19 years of playing experience.  When he was a midget player, Chuck Foreman (formerly of the Minnesota Vikings) was the fullback in his offense.  When Tom was in high school he played one year with Bob Maddox who later went on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals and later a college strength and training coach.  Tom has over 30 years of coaching experience behind him.  In his coaching career he served as an assistant for 3 years at TJ, and two years at Walkersville as a secondary coach and a defensive coordinator.  The vast majority of Tom's experience comes from his time at Linganore which spanned over 20 years in the capacity of either JV coach or varsity offensive coordinator.  During his time at Linganore the teams won three state titles and two of his players went on to play at the Naval Academy. (Billy Hubbard and Shane Todd).  Tom added to his resume by coaching eight years with the semi-pro Frederick Falcons.  While with the Falcons his teams made the playoffs seven times and won three CFL championships.

Tom is in his second year at Middletown High School and his primary responsibility is that of Head JV coach.  He is hoping that he has found a home here and will be able to finish out his career with the Knights.  He now lives in Walkersville with his wife Kit.
