Fred Michels

The Fred Michels path to Middletown Football:

Coach Michaels was born in Washington D.C. on November 21, 1956.  He worked with Holiday Inn for 25 years before retiring.  Fred graduated from Wheaton High School in 1974 in Wheaton, Maryland.  He then moved on to Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland.  He completed his formal education at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.  His professional education also includes Holiday Inn University-Management and Trade School in Memphis Tennessee.  Although this is Fred's first year with the high school football program, he has spent a great deal of time with the Middletown youth program.  Fred was president of the Middletown Valley Athletic Association (MVAA) from 2005-2007 and was a member of the organization for 13 years.  His duties included Assistant Football Coach in the MVAA football program for 8 years.  During those years, the teams with which he worked made the Mountain Valley Football League (MVFL) playoffs 7 out of 8 years including 3 consecutive MVAL Super Bowl appearances in 2004, 2005,and 2006 earning one Super Bowl Championship during the 2005 season.  Fred has also coached MVAA basketball and was the field maintenance coach for many MVAA baseball teams.  Fred has been married to his wife Debbie for 23 years and has four children, Jessica, Elizabeth, Robert and Sam.  Fred is also a proud member of AMVETS Post #9 in Middletown, Maryland.
