Steve Russell

The Steve Russell path to Middletown Football:

Steve was born in Washington D.C. October 5, 1953 and graduated from Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville Maryland. (The school is no longer open).  There, Steve was a standout quarterback on the football team.  He moved on after graduation to Frostburg State where he continued to play football.  Steve left Frostburg to go into the Navy for the next four years and serve his country in the submarine service.  He then finished up his education at the University of Maryland earning degrees in Russian and Secondary Education.  Steve began his coaching career at Laurel High School in Prince Georges County with the JV team for three years.  He then moved on to Damascus High for the next five years where he was part of a staff that directed their team to the 1996 2A state championship.  Steve is in his second year of coaching at Middletown while he is teaching Spanish and Russian at Damascus High School.  Steve lives in the Middletown area with his wife Cathy and his daughters Molly and Katie.  Katie attends Middletown Middle and Molly is a member of the Middletown varsity soccer team.
